Policy Manager is responsible for managing company policies, procedures, SOPs, manuals or other company documents. 

They are in charge of all organization's internal regulations, such as policies, work procedures, SOPs and the like. They are in charge of their creation, updating, management and distribution to employees. In other words, it manages entire lifecycle of company policies and other management documents. It covers all the management activities of the company's controlled documents

Larger organizations usually have a separate position of policy  manager, where they are also in charge of team management and coordination of policy administrators

The workload of a policy manager varies by size and type of organization. It typically includes the following activities:

  • keeps company policies, procedures, SOPs and other internal documents up to date
  • coordinates the creation of policies and regulations in the organization
  • conducts reviews and coordinates documents across departments

  • ensures publication and distribution of all documents in the company
  • ensuring familiarization of people in the company with policies and work procedures
  • ensures that all documents are read and understood
  • tracks and manages policies and keeps compliance with regulatory standards, norms and other requirements
  • conducts analysis, monitoring, measurement, reviews and continuous improvement of the organization's policies
  • oversees and participates in the development of reports, documents, briefings and surveys around company regulations
  • develops and maintains relationships with key policymaking stakeholders
