Definition of Preventive Maintenance Plan
A maintenance plan is a maintenance schedule that defines who, when, and what tasks must be performed to proactively maintain property or assets, preventing failures and other issues. This comprehensive schedule details the timing and frequency of maintenance activities required to keep equipment and facilities in optimal working condition.
Preventive Maintenance Plan includes:
- Scheduled Maintenance Activities: when the maintenance activity should be performed
- Who should perform it
- What tasks must be performed
- How it should be done is usual defined in maintenance SOP
The maintenance plan ensures that all necessary maintenance is performed systematically and consistently, reducing the risk of unexpected breakdowns and extending the lifespan of equipment. When maintenance tasks are executed, they follow the detailed instructions provided in the Maintenance SOPs to ensure they are done correctly and safely.
How to create a maintenance plan
You create maintenance plans using activity plans.
- Go to the record in which you want to set the maintenance plan and select any device, machine or other item for which you want to set the maintenance plan
- Open the "Activity Plans" tab
- Press the "Add activity type" button
- Name the type of maintenance to be performed, select the recurrence period, and then press the "Save" button
- Press the "Schedule" button
- Enter the last maintenance date, notification interval, any note, and who will be notified. Press "Save"
Once you've compiled all the maintenance operations for your property and the frequency, you'll have a maintenance schedule with reminders set for when things need to be done.
