What is a Prefix?
- A prefix is an automatically generated code that appears at the beginning of each new item in an Organizer. It helps with identification, organization, and tracking.
- Prefixes can be automatically assigned based on predefined rules or manually entered if needed.
- Each Organizer can have its own unique prefix setup, defined by the administrator.
Common Prefix Use Cases:
- Contracts → Generate unique contract numbers (e.g., CON-2024-001)
- Employee IDs → Assign structured employee numbers (e.g., EMP-001)
- Assets & Equipment → Label items with unique identifiers (e.g., AS-1001)
Prefixes ensure consistency, improve searchability, and simplify record-keeping.
When to Use a Prefix and Why It’s Beneficial
Prefixes are useful when you need to automatically generate unique codes or numbers for better organization and tracking.
Why Use Prefixes?
- ✅ Ensures Uniqueness – Avoids duplicate entries
- ✅ Improves Organization – Makes searching and sorting easier
- ✅ Saves Time – Automates numbering instead of manual input
- ✅ Enhances Tracking – Helps with audits, inventory, and documentation
Prefixes provide a structured way to manage records efficiently, making them easier to find and reference.
